About me!

Greetings Scholars and Families,

My name is Karissa Walaszek. My mission is to provide the best resources and supports that are available in order to help students on their path to success! In 2013, I earned my Bachelor's in Special and Elementary Education at Arizona State University, and in 2019 I earned my Master's in Curriculum and Instruction at Western Governors University (which I highly recommend, by the way). As of spring 2020, I had been teaching students in grades K-8 with varying ranges of unique abilities for six years.
My teaching pedagogy focuses on creating meaningful relationships and teaching social-emotional strategies in order to help students become more independent, take accountability, and think critically. This way, students can continue to become empowered scholars and positive members of society. I live and educate by the 7 C's:  Compassion, Communication, Collaboration, Critical thinking skills, Creativity, Consistency, and Celebrate successes.
I'm a lifelong learner and I'm currently on my way to becoming a certified yoga instructor (I anticipate earning my certification by fall 2020). In my free time, I enjoy teaching my cats tricks, making yummy plant based protein bowls, and exercising.
I'm here to help, so please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions, comments, or concerns by emailing me at
