October is Anti-Bullying Month and throughout the month, we will be sharing resources, ideas, and encouragement regarding how to create environments where all people are welcomed, respected, and included. Following our month-long emphasis on attendance and absenteeism, it is important to note that creating such environments contributes to increased attendance and engagement. OUSD is proud to have amplified the voices of our Scholars to speak out against two prominent forms of bullying: verbal bullying and cyberbullying. Scholars at El Camino High School have created two public service announcements that are a powerful reminder of the impact of our words, actions, and attitudes towards one another.

There are many antibullying resources available for students, staff, and families.  Click here, check them out and share the information!

A special thank you to students from ECHS for making the below videos!

Welcome to Ocean Shores High School

Here at Ocean Shores High School, we want our students to be ready for a world yet imagined.  Everything we do is to nurture their sense of safety, to invite their academic curiosity, and to develop their skills for career and college preparedness.  In the coming school year, our students will have opportunities to build confidence where it hasn’t existed, develop connections that haven’t been present, and rediscover academic success where there had been challenges.

We at Ocean Shores High School respect and celebrate each other’s differences, encourage academic risk taking, and honor personal growth.  Teachers emphasize that success comes from hard work and perseverance – that when we fall down, we simply get back up and keep moving forward.   Some students will graduate with us; some students will recover their credits and return to their home school.  All students will enjoy an inspiring and relevant education, with highly qualified and dedicated teachers who are excited to cultivate students to be their best selves.

Partnered with Mira Costa Community College we have created pathways to Business/Finance and Arts, Media and Entertainment.  Students can take classes on our campus in these areas; if they earn a grade of ‘B’ or better they will receive high school and college credit.  In addition, all of our students have access to the computer program Naviance where they can take surveys regarding their personality, skill sets, and interest – they can pair these findings with career and college opportunities.

While we at OSHS provide the tools necessary for students to be successful, graduate, and be prepared for college and/or careers, we also rely on parents, guardians, and community members to partner with us; a critical component to both our students’ and school’s achievement.  We are asking parents and/or guardians to serve on our School Site Council which meets several times throughout the year.

We encourage you to stop by and visit us at Shores!

    Healthy Juicy Tuesday

Healthy Juicy Tuesdays are in full swing at Shores thanks to our Counselor, Mr. Gomez.  Every Tuesday a variety of fresh, organic fruits and veggies appears on the table outside Mr. Gomez' office allowing everyone to pick & choose their own blend of juice.

Students are encouraged to try blends they may have never tried in the past and explore the flavor options.  Broccoli has been unanimously voted as not a student fave!

    Cheers!
